High Rise Wish Prt One ~The O'Conells Chronicals~

Camilla O'Conells had everything she ever wanted. A beautiful apartment, a devoted assistant and a career that took her all over the world on the companies dime. A body that was a bitch to maintain, but most women would give there soul to have. natural strawberry blond hair swept up on a classy up do, and dark blue eyes scanned the lower city lights and sighed. CEO of her own company for nearly 5 years and still, she felt no rush. climbing the ladder was the fun, now at the top what was there to do?

It was New years eve and she had no one to spend it with. her mother as over bearing as she was, was in paris with husband number 9 on there honeymoon. Her father was on another hunting trip in upstate New York. And there she was, the prodical child of her day alone on new years. She straightened her thousand dollar dress and headed inside away from the bitter cold bite of January. winter wasnt over yet and she had made little to no leway on her next endevor. Whenever camilla felt down she had always thrown herself into her work. this time it was a huge income with plenty of trade.

The hours widdled on at her glass 5th avenue desk but she couldnt focus on the numbers. Almost 4 hours away from new Years and she buried her head in her hands. "cant focus, cant work, what the fuck am I supposed to do." Looking at her cell on the desk she grabbed it and started to go threw it. Most of the numbers she didnt know, and each one she looked at had a business referal. A cold feeling came upon her, she really didnt have many friends. sure she was sucessfull and had what she desired as a child. In her teen years she had mused about having her own place instead of sluming it with her 4 bothers and sisters.

While her mother had gone off to marry husband number 2, her father was left with 4 children to feed and take care of. The youngest, being overlooked alot of times and frankly always alone. Camilla tried not to let this bother her, but looking back she laughed. She was a common textbook case. She had all the material, just no substance.

Packing away the papers and loose items she paced her loft over. Looking at the hideiously expensive artwork and furniture she grumbled and walked to her bedroom. the Queen sized bed lay smack in the middle laced with puprle satin sheets and canompy match. Sitting there and facing the mirror never had she felt so alone. Phone still clutche in her hand it buzzed, making her jump and answer as fast as she could.

"Hello?" praying it wsnt a wrong number.

"Heya Cammy!" she knew that voice oh so well. "DUNCAN!" Her older brother was a sweetheart on all fronts. He was the only one of the O'Conell Clan to stay behind with dad and take care of the family ranch, in all its "glory." "Heya lil sis, hope Im not interupting a big party!" he laughed jokingly his smoky voice drawled and dark. camilla smiled, he knew her to well. "oh yeah, there about to break out the male strippers now! Whats up?" She hadnt heard from Duncan in years and felt the smile pull at her cheeks. "Well. im getting married." The force of that sentence nearly drove Camilla off the bed and to the floor.

"What the Hell???? Do i know this girl? Is she from a nice family? Is she good to you? Details now Mister Hendricks!" She heard him laughing over the phone. "Calm down mama, its not as bad as you think." Then the worst popped into her head. "Shes knocked up isnt she." Silence on the other end. Camilla felt that smile plumit and in its place a cold fear. "Oh no Duncan, why oh why!" Whenever she was destressed she felt her country accent flourish to the top and her southern bell mode kick in. "Now Cam she isnt that bad. And we decided before the baby that we would get married." His voice calming and soothing. But somehow she knew, underneath it all was something else. "The weddings in a few weeks. i would really appreciate it if you came down here to celebrate. the whole Clans gonna come out and I would love to show my big shot of a lil sis to everyone in town." She felt a rush of memories from her old home and cringed. Bondhooks Texas was a town she would love to forget. "I aint taken no for an answer Camilla SueEllen O'Conell." She cringed even harder. She knew he meant business, the last time he used her middle name was when she broke his model ship in his room when he was about 13. He dragged her by her heels out the house and locked the door, she had to sleep in the horses loft.
"I'll be there dont worry your curly locks." She mummbled. After a quick few goodbyes Camilla yet again, sat on her bed and thought. This was what she wanted, now, she'd better start packing for the family chaos of the Hendricks.
